Cars Made in the USA

There are many car companies out there screaming on television and radio about their cars being made in the USA. The reality is many car companies who claim to have products made in USA really fall into one of two categories. The cars are assembled or made in America, with parts that are not manufactured in the USA or the parts are made in the USA and the cars are not assembled in the United States. In order for a company to claim their cars are 100% made in USA, they have to prove it to the consumer with parts and assembly completed right here on American soil.

The difficulty finding cars that are made in America is the difference in labor costs and part costs between factories in the US and those located overseas. The smaller portion of the total car price spent on parts and labor for assembly, the more money the car manufacturers can put in their pockets as profit. In order to boost those sales, many car dealerships will market their cars as manufactured in the USA, because the mother company may have been started in the United States. The cars may have actually been American made at some point in time as well, but those times are long gone for many major car makers.

When you want to find a high quality car that has been American made, you need to find a resource that has researched EVERY car company. Digging into the part sources, assembly plant locations and overseas activities is not a pretty job, but it is one taken very seriously. At the end of the day, the list of cars that fall into the category of made in the United States will be short, but the buyer can rest assured that the quality, design, materials and assembly of that car will be completed with American hands on American soil from start to finish with no trips out of the country.
